Short explanation

CVE-2026-58392 in OPNsense core is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability caused by the processing logic of the initcmd value on the NTP GPS page. This flaw allows an authenticated user to store malicious input and execute scripts in the sessions of other users who open the page.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to read CSRF material and perform authenticated actions, including actions available to an administrator, within the session of any user who opens the affected GPS page.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor security advisories and updates
  • Plan updates for affected versions
  • Review access privileges
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

OPNsense core ürününde 26.1.11 öncesi sürümlerde NTP GPS sayfasında depolanan initcmd değeri tabanlı XSS zafiyeti bulunmaktadır.

Sayfayı ziyaret eden kullanıcıların oturumlarında çalışan betikler, CSRF materyallerini okuyabilir ve yönetici seviyesindeki işlemler dahil kimlik doğrulaması gerektiren eylemleri gerçekleştirebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

OPNsense is a FreeBSD based firewall and routing platform. Prior to version 26.1.11, the NTP GPS page stores the operator-supplied initcmd value in base64 form, applies legacy_html_escape_form_data() to the encoded string, and then uses base64_decode() to decode the value directly into the GPS initialization-command textarea in src/www/services_ntpd_gps.php. Because decoding occurs after escaping, stored HTML remains unescaped at the output sink. A user with page-services-ntp-gps privilege can store a value that closes the textarea, and script executes in the session of any user who later opens the GPS page. The script can read CSRF material and perform authenticated actions, including actions available to an administrator. This issue is fixed in version 26.1.11.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
