Short explanation
The chan_ooh323 Q.931 party-number parser in Asterisk lacks the fix introduced in CVE-2022-37325. This omission allows malformed Q.931 elements within OOH323 requests to crash Asterisk.
This vulnerability enables remote attackers to execute denial of service (DoS) attacks without authentication, causing unexpected termination of the targeted Asterisk telephony service.
What should be done?
- Upgrade to Asterisk versions 21.12.3, 22.10.1, 23.4.1 or Certified Asterisk 22.8-cert3
- Follow instructions provided in the vendor advisory
- Restrict external network access to the chan_ooh323 channel driver port
Chain of evidence and sources
chan_ooh323 Q.931 parti numarası ayrıştırıcısı CVE-2022-37325 düzeltmesini barındırmamaktadır.
Hatalı biçimlendirilmiş Q.931 öğelerine sahip OOH323 istekleri Asterisk yazılımını çökletebilir.
Zafiyet chan_ooh323 eklentisinin açık portlar üzerinden erişilebilir olmasını gerektirir.
İlgili sorun Asterisk 21.12.3, 22.10.1, 23.4.1 ve Certified Asterisk 22.8-cert3 sürümlerinde giderilmiştir.
Show the technical text from the sources
Asterisk is an open source private branch exchange and telephony toolkit. From 21.0.0-pre1 until Asterisk 21.12.3, 22.10.1, 23.4.1 and Certified Asterisk 22.8-cert3, the `chan_ooh323` `Q.931 party-number parser` lacks the `CVE-2022-37325` fix because that fix was never forward-ported from Asterisk 20 to later versions. Malformed Q.931 elements in an `OOH323 request` can therefore crash Asterisk. This issue affects Asterisk versions greater than 20. The `chan_ooh323` addon channel driver must be explicitly compiled and installed, which is not the default, and its port must be publicly reachable. This issue is fixed in Asterisk 21.12.3, 22.10.1, 23.4.1 and Certified Asterisk 22.8-cert3.
