e107 alt_auth Plugin SQL Injection Vulnerability

Short explanation

The otherdb and e107db authentication backends in the e107 CMS alt_auth plugin interpolate submitted usernames directly into SQL queries. Unauthenticated users can perform SQL injection when the plugin is installed and configured with a live external database connection, exposing or modifying data available to the database account.

Why does it matter?

It allows unauthenticated attackers to execute SQL statements over the network and carries a critical severity rating.

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory
  • Update the e107 version

e107 alt_auth eklentisinin otherdb ve e107db arka uçları, kullanıcı adlarını doğrudan SQL'e ekler.

Kimliği doğrulanmamış bir kullanıcı, canlı dış veritabanı bağlantısı yapılandırıldığında SQL enjeksiyonu gerçekleştirebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

e107 is a content management system (CMS). Prior to 2.3.7, the bundled alt_auth plugin's otherdb and e107db authentication backends interpolate the submitted login username directly into SQL in e107_plugins/alt_auth/otherdb_auth.php and e107_plugins/alt_auth/e107db_auth.php. The login() methods execute those strings with PDO::query() before effective sanitization, so an unauthenticated user can inject SQL when alt_auth is installed and either backend is configured with a live external database connection. The injection can expose or modify data available to the configured database account, and query failures can additionally disclose the generated query through the debug-message path. This issue is fixed in version 2.3.7.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
