Short explanation
Prior to version 1.24.2, three REST endpoints in UserResourceImpl authorize callers with the read:admin role but do not verify that the supplied user UUID belongs to the caller's realm. This omission allows a realm administrator to retrieve profile, client roles, and realm roles of users in other tenants or the master realm, breaking tenant isolation.
Tenant isolation is broken and privileged account information is exposed, creating confidentiality and security risks in multi‑tenant IoT deployments.
What should be done?
- Upgrade to version 1.24.2 or later (S0).
- Monitor the GitLab Advisory and related patch notes (S0).
- Review access‑control policies to limit the read:admin privilege (S0).
The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.
Chain of evidence and sources

OpenRemote is an open-source internet-of-things platform. Prior to 1.24.2, the get, getUserClientRoles, and getUserRealmRoles methods in manager/src/main/java/org/openremote/manager/security/UserResourceImpl.java authorize callers with the read:admin role without confirming that the target UUID belongs to the requested and authenticated realm. A realm administrator can supply a user identifier from another tenant or the master realm and retrieve that user's profile, client roles, and realm roles, breaking tenant isolation and exposing privileged account information. This issue is fixed in version 1.24.2.
