Short explanation

In Code for IBM i versions prior to 3.0.1, Object Browser downloads and edit-save flow contents stored in the shared /tmp directory remain readable by other local accounts.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows unauthorized local users to access sensitive file contents, potentially leading to confidentiality breaches in shared environments.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories.
  • Review /tmp directory access permissions.
  • Update affected components.
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Code for IBM i 3.0.1 öncesi sürümlerde /tmp dizinindeki geçici dosyalar güvenilir bir şekilde temizlenmemektedir.

/tmp dizininin diğer yerel hesaplarca erişilebilir olduğu sistemlerde dosya içerikleri okunabilir kalmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

Code for IBM i is a Visual Studio Code extension for maintaining and compiling ILE languages on the IBMi platform. Prior to 3.0.1, src/ui/views/objectBrowser.ts stores Object Browser downloads and the edit-save flow content in the shared /tmp directory without reliable cleanup. On systems where /tmp is accessible to other local accounts, file contents remain readable after download or editing operations. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.1.
