Short explanation
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved when BMP route monitoring is enabled. A configured external BGP neighbor can execute arbitrary commands with root privileges.
This critical vulnerability allows attackers to execute remote commands with full privileges on network devices without authentication, increasing the risk of system compromise.
What should be done?
- Follow the vendor advisory to check for updates
- Apply provided patches for affected versions
- Review the BMP route monitoring configuration
Chain of evidence and sources
Junos OS ve Junos OS Evolved yazılımlarındaki rpd bileşeninde yığını tabanlı tampon taşması zafiyeti bulunmaktadır.
Yapılandırılmış harici bir BGP komşusu, BMP route monitoring aracılığıyla root yetkileriyle komut çalıştırabilir.
