Short explanation

The Nokri - Job Board WordPress Theme (<= 1.6.6) suffers from a critical unauthenticated privilege escalation vulnerability due to insufficient token validation. Attackers can reset any user's password, including administrators, without authentication. No official patch status is confirmed. Remediation requires vendor guidance.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability enables unauthenticated attackers to gain full access to any user account, including administrators, without requiring login or authentication. The high CVSS score and lack of authentication make it a critical threat vector for WordPress installations using the affected theme.

What should be done?

  • Apply vendor patch if available
  • Upgrade to version 1.6.7 or later
  • Follow official vendor advisory without assuming patch status
Note on uncertainty

The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.

Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

The Nokri - Job Board WordPress Theme for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation via Account Takeover in all versions up to, and including, 1.6.6. This is due to insufficient reset token validation in the `nokri_reset_password()` function, which allows empty attacker-supplied reset tokens to match empty or unset `sb_password_forget_token` user meta values. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to reset the password of any user, including administrators, and gain access to their account.
