Short explanation

An incorrect authorization issue has been identified in GitLab EE affecting versions from 12.0 before 19.3.6, 19.4 before 19.4.3, and 19.5 before 19.5.1. According to S0, it allows authenticated users to grant or accept memberships outside identity provider controls when instance-wide SAML or LDAP membership locks are enabled.

Why does it matter?

Allowing users to manage project and group memberships outside identity provider oversight increases confidentiality risks and can bypass organizational security controls.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories for affected versions
  • Review patch and update announcements provided by GitLab

Show the technical text from the sources

GitLab has remediated an issue in GitLab EE affecting all versions from 12.0 before 19.3.6, 19.4 before 19.4.3, and 19.5 before 19.5.1 that, when the instance-wide SAML or LDAP membership lock was enabled, an authenticated user could have granted or accepted project and group membership outside the identity provider's control, due to incomplete enforcement of the membership lock on requests created before the lock was enabled.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
