Short explanation
The Tracking Code Manager plugin versions up to and including 2.6.0 contain a reflected XSS flaw in the 'TCM_ErrorMessages' POST parameter due to insufficient input sanitization; unauthenticated attackers can execute malicious scripts by convincing a user to click a crafted link. (S0)
The flaw enables attackers to run code in a victim’s browser, potentially stealing sessions or performing other malicious actions. (S0)
What should be done?
- Watch vendor advisories for an official fix (S0)
- Apply updates promptly when a patched version becomes available (S0)
- Enforce server‑side input validation and output encoding for POST parameters (S0)
- Use a web‑application firewall to block reflected XSS payloads (S0)
- Educate users to avoid clicking suspicious links (S0)

The Tracking Code Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via 'TCM_ErrorMessages' POST Parameter in all versions up to, and including, 2.6.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link.
