Short explanation

Kyverno contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows reading resources in other namespaces by templating generate.clone or cloneList namespace values.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to copy sensitive data belonging to different tenants into their own namespace, enabling cross-tenant data disclosure.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Update affected product versions
  • Audit Policy author permissions
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Kyverno 1.19.2 öncesi sürümler, generate.clone ve cloneList namespace değerlerinin şablonlanmasıyla diğer namespace'lerdeki kaynakların okunmasına izin veren eksik yetkilendirme zafiyeti içermektedir.

Saldırganlar tetikleyici bir ConfigMap'i etiketleyerek background-controller bileşeninin hedef namespace'teki hassas bir ConfigMap'i kendi alanına kopyalamasını sağlayabilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Kyverno before 1.19.2 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows namespaced Policy authors to read resources in other namespaces by templating generate.clone or cloneList namespace values. Attackers can annotate a triggering ConfigMap so the background-controller copies a victim namespace's sensitive ConfigMap into the attacker's namespace, enabling cross-tenant data disclosure.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
