Short explanation

An OS command injection vulnerability in Trusted Remote Execution (REX) might allow authenticated remote users to execute commands as root [S0].

Why does it matter?

This critical flaw can lead to the bypassing of Cedar policy enforcement and the execution of arbitrary commands on managed instances [S0].

What should be done?

  • Delete any Rex-RO and Rex-RW SSM documents created from the example script [S0]
  • Perform deletion in each account and Region where it was run [S0]
  • Follow vendor security advisories [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Trusted Remote Execution (REX) içindeki örnek SSM belgesi sağlama betiğinde bir işletim sistemi komut enjeksiyonu zafiyeti bulunmaktadır.

Zafiyet, kimliği doğrulanmış bir uzak kullanıcının Cedar ilke uygulamasını atlayarak yönetilen örnekte root yetkileri ile rastgele komutlar çalıştırmasına izin verebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

OS command injection in the example SSM document provisioning script in Trusted Remote Execution (REX) before 2026-07-28 might allow an authenticated remote user who is permitted to invoke the Rex-RO or Rex-RW SSM document to execute arbitrary commands as root on the managed instance, bypassing Cedar policy enforcement. To remediate this issue, users should delete any Rex-RO and Rex-RW SSM documents created from the example script, in each account and Region where it was run.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
