Short explanation

A vulnerability exists in armeria-xds versions 1.40.0 through 1.42.0 within LY Corporation Armeria [S0]. The vulnerability occurs because DataSourcePolicy checks filename containment without resolving symbolic links [S0]. This flaw allows reading files outside of configured allowed directories [S0].

Why does it matter?

Exploitation via a compromised xDS control plane can expose sensitive text secrets [S0]. This risk applies to deployments using a credential injector [S0].

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories as the patch status is currently unknown [S0]
  • Review xDS control plane security in affected armeria-xds versions [S0]
  • Audit symbolic link usages [S0]

Show the technical text from the sources

A vulnerability has been identified in armeria-xds versions 1.40.0 through 1.42.0, where DataSourcePolicy checks filename containment without resolving symbolic links, allowing a compromised or semi-trusted xDS control plane to cause the xDS client to read files outside configured allowed root directories when a symbolic link inside an allowed directory points outside it. In deployments using a credential injector, header-compatible text secrets may be exposed to an attacker-observable upstream.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
