Short explanation

A flaw exists in libslirp within icmp_forward_error() where the length of the quoted original IPv4 packet is taken from the IP header without clamping it to the actual buffer length. This can lead to an out-of-bounds heap read, leaking host memory into the returned ICMP error packet to a guest or container.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows an entity with adjacent network access to potentially access sensitive host memory data. Rated with a high severity score, it presents an information disclosure risk.

What should be done?

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in libslirp in icmp_forward_error(). When building an ICMP error response, the length of the quoted original IPv4 packet was taken from the IP header without clamping it to the actual buffer length. A truncated or malformed packet could cause an out-of-bounds heap read, leaking host memory into the ICMP error packet returned to a guest or container.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
