Short explanation

CGI for Perl versions prior to 5.00 allow open redirects and script injection via URLs built from REQUEST_URI without validation.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability permits unvalidated inputs to be used in links or form posts, potentially directing users to external locations and creating script injection risks.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and patches.
  • Update affected components.
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Perl için CGI 5.00 öncesi sürümler, REQUEST_URI üzerinden açık yönlendirmelere ve script enjeksiyonuna izin verir.

url(-relative=>1) fonksiyonu bir javascript: URL döndürebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

CGI versions before 5.00 for Perl allow open redirects and script injection via URLs built from REQUEST_URI in url and start_form. url(-absolute=>1), url(-relative=>1) and the default start_form action are built from the client-supplied REQUEST_URI without validation. The result can be protocol-relative (//evil.example), absolute-form (http://evil.example/) or contain backslashes, and url(-relative=>1) can return a javascript: URL. Links and form posts built from these URLs can go to another host.
