Short explanation

The Redux Framework plugin versions up to and including 4.5.16 contain a stored cross‑site scripting (XSS) vulnerability via the theme_opts parameter in user profiles, allowing an authenticated attacker with subscriber‑level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts.

Why does it matter?

Stored XSS can execute malicious code in the browsers of any visitor to the compromised pages, leading to session hijacking and site manipulation.

What should be done?

  • Upgrade to a version newer than 4.5.16 if the vendor provides one
  • Review theme code for use of CSS‑emitting Redux fields
  • Implement proper input sanitization and output escaping
  • Deploy WAF rules to block XSS payloads
  • Monitor and clean any injected malicious scripts

Show the technical text from the sources

The Redux Framework plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via theme_opts Parameter via User Profile in all versions up to, and including, 4.5.16 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Successful exploitation requires the host theme to have registered a Redux field of a CSS-emitting type (such as link_color, border, or typography) with an output CSS selector, as only the field types 'spinner', 'slider', 'color', and 'date' receive per-type value validation that would block the entity-encoded payload.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
