Short explanation
A vulnerability exists in the H.264 video parser of gst-plugins-bad when processing malformed Multiview data, leading to a null pointer dereference. This can cause applications using GStreamer to crash and result in a denial of service.
This vulnerability can disrupt GStreamer-based applications by causing crashes, leading to a denial of service on affected systems.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor security advisories
- Apply GStreamer updates
Chain of evidence and sources
Show the technical text from the sources
A flaw was found in the H.264 video parser in gst-plugins-bad. When processing a specially crafted H.264 video file with malformed Multiview (MVC) Sequence Parameter Set data, the parser can dereference a NULL pointer during the cleanup of partially allocated internal structures after a parse failure. This can cause the application using GStreamer to crash, resulting in a denial of service.
