Short explanation

An SSRF and open proxy vulnerability in the @happy-dom/server-renderer package allows unauthenticated HTTP/2 requests to bypass the target origin. This permits access to external HTTP or HTTPS endpoints, including local and internal services, relaying response data back to the requester.

Why does it matter?

This security flaw enables attackers to directly access sensitive data on local networks or internal services reachable by the server, potentially leading to confidentiality breaches.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and apply available patches
  • Update the affected package
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

Happy DOM is a JavaScript implementation of a web browser without its graphical user interface. Prior to 21.0.2, the Happy DOM server-renderer package's ServerRendererServer accepts unauthenticated HTTP/2 requests and resolves attacker-controlled :path values against server.targetOrigin in #onIncomingRequest in packages/@happy-dom/server-renderer/src/ServerRendererServer.ts without confirming that the resolved origin remains trusted before calling fetch. A protocol-relative path can change the destination to an arbitrary HTTP or HTTPS endpoint reachable by the server, including local and internal services, and the proxy relays the fetched response headers and body to the requester. This issue is fixed in version 21.0.2.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
