Short explanation

CVE-2026-118448 is a use of uninitialized memory vulnerability affecting the nd_to_text function in pybddisasm Python bindings. When text conversion fails, the output buffer may remain uninitialized. This can lead to residual process memory disclosure or application crashes.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can leak sensitive process memory or crash the application. Since the pybddisasm package is no longer maintained, addressing security flaws presents additional challenges.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisory guidance
  • Review application code for faulty nd_to_text calls
  • Evaluate alternative maintained packages
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

CVE-2026-118448, pybddisasm paketinin nd_to_text işlevinde başlatılmamış bellek kullanımına neden olur.

Dönüşüm başarısız olduğunda çıktı arabelleği başlatılmamış kalabilir ve Python dönüş değerine dönüştürülebilir.

pybddisasm paketi artık bakım görmemektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources

A use of uninitialized memory vulnerability in the pybddisasm Python bindings affects nd_to_text. If the underlying text conversion fails, including failures caused by invalid parameters, the output buffer may remain uninitialized while still being converted into a Python return value. This may disclose residual process memory or cause the Python process to crash. Exploitation requires an application to invoke nd_to_text in a way that causes conversion to fail and to return or otherwise use the resulting output. The pybddisasm package is no longer maintained.
