Short explanation

CVE-2026-115893 affects the Wasmtime WebAssembly runtime, specifically the aarch64 Cranelift compiler backend. It can compile large Wasm br_table instructions with incorrect branch targets, enabling sandbox escapes.

Why does it matter?

This critical vulnerability allows a user-controlled Wasm module to escape the sandbox and execute arbitrary code on affected aarch64 engines.

What should be done?

  • Update Wasmtime to versions 36.0.19, 48.0.7, or 49.0.4
  • Follow the vendor advisory for patch details
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

Wasmtime is a runtime for WebAssembly. Prior to 36.0.19, 48.0.7, and 49.0.4, the Cranelift compiler backend on aarch64 can compile a Wasm br_table instruction with more than approximately 256,000 targets so that it has an incorrect conditional branch target. The branch can then jump to arbitrary other code at a user-controlled offset, allowing a user-controlled Wasm module to escape the sandbox on aarch64 engines using the default Cranelift backend. This issue is fixed in versions 36.0.19, 48.0.7, and 49.0.4.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
