Short explanation
The Music Store plugin versions up to 1.4.7 allow directory traversal via the ‘f’ parameter. An unauthenticated attacker who obtains a valid purchase_id token can read arbitrary files on the server, exposing sensitive data. The CVSS score is 7.5, there is no reported active exploitation, and the patch status is not verified in official sources.
Exposure of sensitive files can reveal server configuration and other critical information.
What should be done?
- Monitor vendor advisory for updates
- Apply patch if released (status UNKNOWN)
- Validate/sanitize the ‘f’ parameter
- Deploy a WAF to block directory traversal
- Disable the plugin if not needed
Chain of evidence and sources
Show the technical text from the sources
The Music Store – WordPress eCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Directory Traversal in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.7 via the 'f' parameter parameter. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to read the contents of arbitrary files on the server, which can contain sensitive information. Exploitation requires a valid purchase_id token, which any user can obtain by making a single low-cost purchase or receiving a shared download link.
