Short explanation

fzf versions contain an inefficient algorithmic complexity vulnerability in maskActionContents that allows local attackers to exhaust the --listen HTTP server.

Why does it matter?

Blocking the single-threaded server allows local users to temporarily render the service inaccessible.

What should be done?

  • Review the patch reference
  • Follow vendor advisories for updates

Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

fzf 0.36.0 ile 0.74.5 sürümleri maskActionContents içinde verimsiz algoritmik karmaşıklık barındırır.

Saldırganlar kimlik doğrulaması gerektirmeyen localhost bağlantı noktasına POST gövdeleri göndererek sunucuyu bloke edebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

fzf 0.36.0 through 0.74.5 contains an inefficient algorithmic complexity vulnerability in maskActionContents that allows local attackers to exhaust the --listen HTTP server through quadratic string concatenation. Attackers can repeatedly send POST bodies of about 1 MB to the unauthenticated localhost port, blocking the single-threaded server for about 30 seconds each time.
