Short explanation
Roundcube Webmail versions contain an object injection primitive within rcube_session::unserialize(). This vulnerability allows attackers capable of influencing stored session data to achieve a PHP object injection primitive.
This security flaw can enable the manipulation of sensitive session data and facilitate object injection attacks capable of creating critical impacts on the system.
What should be done?
- Update Roundcube Webmail versions
- Apply vendor-provided patches or fixed versions
Chain of evidence and sources
Roundcube Webmail sürümleri, rcube_session::unserialize() fonksiyonunda bir nesne enjeksiyonu primitifi barındırmaktadır.
“!” ön ekine sahip oturum anahtarları, girdi akışının senkronizasyonunu bozarak takip eden verilerin serileştirilmiş değer olarak yorumlanmasına neden olur.
Show the technical text from the sources
Roundcube Webmail before 1.6.20 and 1.7.x before 1.7.5 contains an object injection primitive in rcube_session::unserialize(). A session key prefixed with “!” was treated as having no value, and the reconstructed serialized string was emitted with a key but no corresponding value, desynchronizing the remainder of the input so that following session data was interpreted as a serialized value. This yields a PHP object injection primitive for an attacker able to influence stored session data. Upstream fixed this in the commit “Fix object injection primitive in rcube_session::unserialize() via “!”-prefixed session keys”, which rejects such keys.
