Short explanation

Espressif Internet of Things Development Framework (ESF-IDF) contains an unvalidated stack pointer vulnerability that breaches the REE/TEE privilege boundary.

Why does it matter?

A local unprivileged REE application can direct a machine-mode write into TEE-exclusive memory, potentially corrupting TEE control-flow data.

What should be done?

  • Update to version 5.5.6 or later
  • Apply scheduled fixes for versions 6.0.4 and 6.1.1
  • Follow vendor advisories
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

ESF-IDF içindeki esp_tee trap girişi, REE yığın işaretçisini doğrulamadan önce kayıt çerçevesini kaydeder.

Bu güvenlik açığı ESP32-C5, ESP32-C6, ESP32-C61 ve ESP32-H2 cihazlarını etkiler.

Show the technical text from the sources

ESF-IDF is the Espressif Internet of Things (IOT) Development Framework. From 5.5.5 until 5.5.6, 6.0.4, and 6.1.1, the esp_tee trap entry in esp_tee_vectors_plic.S and esp_tee_vectors_clic.S saves a caller-controlled register frame through the REE-supplied stack pointer before switching to the trusted TEE stack or validating the pointer. A local unprivileged REE application can direct this machine-mode write into TEE-exclusive memory on ESP32-C5, ESP32-C6, ESP32-C61, and ESP32-H2 devices, breaking the REE/TEE isolation boundary and potentially corrupting TEE control-flow data for code execution, denial of service, or system crashes. Both secure-service ecall and interrupt entry paths contain the vulnerable ordering. This issue is fixed in version 5.5.6 and is scheduled to be fixed in versions 6.0.4 and 6.1.1.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.

Public exploit and active exploitation status

Verified exploit intelligence

No verified public PoC, exploit repository or Metasploit module has been found for this CVE yet.
