Short explanation

A flaw exists in the GStreamer ASF demuxer within gst-plugins-ugly where an attacker-controlled entry count is used to size a heap allocation during Simple Index object parsing [S0].

Why does it matter?

Processing a crafted ASF, WMV, or WMA file can cause a very large memory allocation request and lead to denial of service if allocation fails or memory is constrained [S0].

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and updates [S0].
  • Keep affected plugins and packages updated [S0].
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

GStreamer ASF demuxer bileşeninde Simple Index nesnesi ayrıştırılırken bellek ayırma boyutu girdisi sınırlandırılmamaktadır [S0].

Hazırlanmış dosyaların işlenmesi hizmet kesintisine ve büyük bellek taleplerine neden olabilir [S0].

A flaw was found in the GStreamer ASF demuxer in gst-plugins-ugly. When parsing a Simple Index object, an attacker-controlled entry count is used to size a heap allocation without being limited to the payload available in the object. Processing a crafted ASF, WMV, or WMA file can cause a very large memory allocation request and lead to denial of service if the allocation fails or the process is memory-constrained.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
