Short explanation

A denial of service vulnerability in OW2 ASM between versions 9.11 and 9.11.1 occurs via an infinite loop in Label.resolve() caused by truncated 16-bit forward-reference offsets. Crafted class files can hang ClassReader.accept().

Why does it matter?

Targeting build tools, instrumenters, agents, and analyzers, this vulnerability can lead to high availability loss, hanging critical processes and causing service disruptions.

What should be done?

  • Follow the provided patch references and vendor advisories
  • Update affected OW2 ASM components
  • Validate class file transformation pipelines

OW2 ASM 9.11 ile 9.11.1 sürümleri arası, Label.resolve() içindeki sonsuz döngü nedeniyle hizmet engelleme zafiyetine açıktır.

Saldırganlar, dönüşen kodu 65535 baytı aşan sınıf dosyaları sağlayarak ClassReader.accept() fonksiyonunu askıda bırakabilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

OW2 ASM 9.11 before 9.11.1 contains an infinite loop vulnerability in Label.resolve() caused by 16-bit forward-reference offsets truncating when rewritten methods exceed 64 KB. Attackers can supply crafted class files whose transformed code grows past 65535 bytes, hanging ClassReader.accept() and denying service to build tools, instrumenters, agents, or analyzers.
