Short explanation
libmng through version 2.0.3 contains a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in mng_read_ordr(). This flaw occurs because ORDR entry buffers are sized using 5-byte on-wire records instead of 8-byte in-memory entries. Processing a crafted MNG file can corrupt heap memory and crash the application.
The vulnerability allows attackers to corrupt heap memory and crash applications via crafted MNG files. Discrepancies exist between sources regarding the CVSS base score.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories
- Update the library if fixes are available
- Restrict processing of MNG files from untrusted sources

Chain of evidence and sources
libmng sürümleri 2.0.3 ve öncesi, mng_read_ordr() işlevinde yığın tabanlı tampon taşması barındırır.
ORDR girdi tamponları, 8 baytlık bellek içi girdiler yerine 5 baytlık ağ kayıtlarına göre boyutlandırılmaktadır.
Kaynaklar arasında CVSS taban puanı konusunda farklılıklar mevcuttur.
Show the technical text from the sources
libmng through 2.0.3 contains a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in mng_read_ordr() that allows attackers to corrupt heap memory because ORDR entry buffers are sized by 5-byte on-wire records instead of 8-byte in-memory entries. Attackers can supply a crafted MNG file with MHDR, DHDR and a multi-record ORDR chunk to applications calling mng_read or mng_readdisplay, writing attacker-controlled data past the allocation and crashing the application.
