Short explanation

The serveStatic component in Hono web application framework decodes the request path a second time, leading to the bypass of upstream routing middleware and unauthorized access to static files (S0).

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of protected static files and can bypass authentication or access control mechanisms (S0).

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor security advisories and apply updates accordingly (S0).
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Hono çatısındaki serveStatic bileşeni, istek yolunu ikinci kez çözerek ara yazılım korumasının atlanmasına yol açar.

Bu zafiyet, yapılandırılmış statik kök dizinin dışına dosya erişimine izin vermez.

Show the technical text from the sources

Hono is a Web application framework that provides support for any JavaScript runtime. From 4.12.4 until 4.13.11, serveStatic can interpret a malformed percent-encoded path differently from upstream routing middleware and bypass protection for a static prefix. The root cause is serveStatic decodes a routed request path a second time before filesystem lookup. The attack mechanism is malformed percent encoding survives the first routing interpretation and becomes a protected path only during the later static-file decode. The affected component is serveStatic. The trigger conditions are an application protects a static prefix with upstream middleware and serveStatic receives an attacker-controlled malformed percent-encoded path. The impact is unauthorized disclosure of a static file that upstream middleware was intended to protect. The issue does not permit traversal outside the configured static root. This issue is fixed in version 4.13.11.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
