WHartTest 2.8.1 – Missing Authentication on UI‑Automation WebSocket Endpoints

Short explanation

In WHartTest version 2.8.1 the UiAutomationConsumer accepts all connections, leaving the /ws/ui/web/ and /ws/ui/actuator/ WebSocket endpoints unauthenticated. Unauthenticated attackers can register an actuator, intercept other users' test‑case payloads, receive broadcast step results, and spoof results or screen frames into victim sessions.

Why does it matter?

Unauthorized access enables data theft and session manipulation, compromising security and integrity of testing processes.

What should be done?

  • Apply vendor‑provided patch when available
  • Add authentication to WebSocket endpoints
  • Monitor and block unauthorized WebSocket connections
  • Follow vendor advisory for temporary mitigations

Show the technical text from the sources

WHartTest through 2.8.1 contains a missing authentication vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to connect to the /ws/ui/web/ and /ws/ui/actuator/ WebSocket endpoints because UiAutomationConsumer accepts every connection. Attackers can register an actuator with a client-supplied id to intercept other users' test-case payloads, receive broadcast step results, and spoof results and screen frames into victim sessions.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
