Short explanation
In Wheels 3.0.0‑4.1.1, when allowIPBasedDebugAccess=true a privileged admin request changes error/debug display settings in shared scope. If an unauthorized client’s request that triggers an error overlaps, the client receives full exception details and any embedded sensitive data. The issue is fixed in version 4.1.2; patch status could not be verified in official sources (S0).
Leaked exception details can expose sensitive information and aid subsequent attack stages (S0).
What should be done?
- Upgrade Wheels to 4.1.2 or later (S0)
- Disable the allowIPBasedDebugAccess setting
- Turn off error/debug display in production
- Monitor vendor advisory for patch confirmation (S0)
- Audit exception logs for unexpected data exposure
Chain of evidence and sources
Açık, Wheels 3.0.0‑4.1.1 sürümlerini etkiler (S0, S1).
Sorun, Wheels 4.1.2 sürümünde düzeltilmiştir (S0, S1).
Resmi kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı; durum UNKNOWN olarak rapor edilmiştir (S0).
Show the technical text from the sources
Wheels 3.0.0 through 4.1.1 can disclose detailed exceptions when allowIPBasedDebugAccess=true (disabled by default). An allowed administrator request changes error/debug-display settings in shared application scope. If it overlaps with an unauthorized client's request that raises an error, that client can receive full exception details, including tag context or a serialized exception, and any sensitive data they contain. This race does not bypass the production gate protecting developer tools. This is fixed in 4.1.2.
