Short explanation

SoX through 14.4.2 contains a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in lsx_ms_adpcm_block_expand_i() triggered by an odd samplesPerBlock value in the WAV fmt chunk.

Why does it matter?

It allows attackers to target applications using a crafted audio file and achieve partial data control past the heap buffer.

What should be done?

  • Monitor official channels for patch details.
  • Follow vendor advisory guidance.
  • Avoid processing untrusted audio files.

Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

SoX 14.4.2 ve önceki sürümlerde lsx_ms_adpcm_block_expand_i fonksiyonunda yığın sınır dışı yazma açığı bulunmaktadır.

Zafiyet, WAV fmt öbeğindeki odd samplesPerBlock değeri nedeniyle tetiklenmektedir.

Resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu şu an için doğrulanamamıştır.

Show the technical text from the sources

SoX through 14.4.2 contains a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in lsx_ms_adpcm_block_expand_i() in src/adpcm.c, triggered by an odd samplesPerBlock value in the WAV fmt chunk. Attackers can supply a crafted MS ADPCM WAV file to sox or any libsox consumer to write a partially controlled 16-bit sample past the heap buffer allocated by wav_ms_adpcm_fmt().

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
