Short explanation

FreeImage and danoli3 fork versions contain a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the Unpack32Bits function due to a missing rowBytes check. This flaw allows attackers to leak memory or crash the process via crafted PICT files.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability enables attackers to read sensitive memory contents or crash the targeted application, creating risks to confidentiality and availability.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Apply updates
  • Restrict PICT file processing

Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

FreeImage ve danoli3 fork sürümleri, Unpack32Bits fonksiyonunda yığın sınır dışı okuma zafiyeti barındırmaktadır.

rowBytes değerinin dosya kontrollü PixMap genişliğine karşı denetlenmemesi, 64 KiB'a kadar yığın verisinin okunmasına yol açar.

cvelist 6.9 CVSS skoru bildirirken NVD 6.1 CVSS skoru bildirmektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources

FreeImage (danoli3 fork) through 3.19.23 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Unpack32Bits() in PluginPICT.cpp because rowBytes is never checked against the file-controlled PixMap width. Attackers can supply a crafted PICT file with a truncated or undersized rowBytes to over-read up to 64 KiB of heap, leaking memory into decoded pixels or crashing the process.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
