Short explanation

libansilove versions 1.3.0 through 1.4.2 contain a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability within ansilove_xbin(). This vulnerability allows attackers to crash applications by supplying a crafted XBIN file.

Why does it matter?

This security flaw enables denial of service conditions by crashing applications that process untrusted input. The official patch status remains unverified in checked resources.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories due to unknown patch status
  • Restrict processing of untrusted XBIN files
  • Apply updates as soon as they become available

Show the technical text from the sources

libansilove 1.3.0 through 1.4.2 contains a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in ansilove_xbin() that allows attackers to crash applications by supplying a crafted XBIN file. Attackers can set the 512-character flag without the custom-font flag, causing drawchar() to index a NULL high_font_data_xbin pointer and terminate the process.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
