Out-of-Bounds Read Vulnerability in zziplib

Short explanation

zziplib through version 0.13.80 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the __zzip_parse_root_directory function within zzip/zip.c. Due to an ineffective bounds check, it allows reading past the mapped central directory in mmap builds.

Why does it matter?

Attackers can supply a crafted ZIP file via zzip_dir_open to trigger ZIP64 extra field over-reads that crash the process.

What should be done?

Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

zziplib 0.13.80 ve önceki sürümler, __zzip_parse_root_directory içerisinde sınır dışı okuma zafiyeti içerir.

Zafiyet, etkisiz bir sınır denetimi nedeniyle mmap derlemelerinde eşlenen merkezi dizinin ötesine okunmasına izin verir.

Söz konusu zafiyet için yama durumu resmî kaynaklarda doğrulanamamıştır.

zziplib through 0.13.80 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in __zzip_parse_root_directory() in zzip/zip.c that allows attackers to read past the mapped central directory in mmap builds due to an ineffective bounds check. Attackers can supply a crafted ZIP whose entry name ends at the central directory end, triggering 28-byte ZIP64 extra field over-reads via zzip_dir_open() that crash the process.
