Short explanation
In Mercury versions prior to 3.2.6, default tokenless deployments allow anonymous clients to create Jupyter kernels and send arbitrary Python execution requests (S0).
This critical vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary Python code without any authentication requirements, leading to high potential impact (S0).
What should be done?
- Upgrade Mercury to version 3.2.6 or later (S0)
- Follow official vendor advisories and documentation (S0)
Chain of evidence and sources
Mercury 3.2.6 öncesi sürümlerde token içermeyen varsayılan dağıtımlar anonim istemcilerin Jupyter çekirdekleri oluşturmasına izin verir.
Uç nokta engelleme listesinin /api/kernels yolunu kapsamaması ve websocket sarmalayıcısının eksik yetkilendirmesi zafiyete yol açar.
Show the technical text from the sources
Mercury is a Python framework for sharing Jupyter notebooks as web applications and dashboards. Prior to 3.2.6, default tokenless deployments allow anonymous clients to create Jupyter kernels and send execute_request messages containing arbitrary Python. The endpoint blocklist does not cover /api/kernels, and the websocket wrapper previously tracked idle activity without authorizing executable messages. This issue is fixed in version 3.2.6.
