Short explanation

Better Auth and related adapters contain a race condition in database-backed rate limiting on PostgreSQL. This vulnerability allows attackers to send bursts of concurrent requests, exceeding configured limits.

Why does it matter?

It bypasses rate limits on critical endpoints such as password sign-in, two-factor verification, and password reset.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Check for updated version details

Show the technical text from the sources

Better Auth @better-auth/drizzle-adapter and better-auth from 1.6.17 before 1.7.7, and @better-auth/kysely-adapter from 1.6.17 before 1.7.0, contain a race condition in database-backed rate limiting on PostgreSQL where the limit check is not atomic with the counter update. Remote attackers can send bursts of concurrent requests that pass the check together, exceeding configured limits on password sign-in, two-factor verification, one-time code, password reset, and other rate-limited endpoints.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
