Short explanation
An argument injection vulnerability affects Head.checkout() in GitPython versions. This flaw allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via GitCommandError messages.
The vulnerability can be remotely exploited over the network without requiring authentication. Reading arbitrary files can lead to privacy breaches and additional security risks.
What should be done?
- Update the GitPython package or follow vendor advisory guidance
- Exercise caution when cloning untrusted remote repositories
- Monitor relevant security advisories

Chain of evidence and sources
GitPython 3.2.0 öncesi sürümlerde Head.checkout() fonksiyonunda argüman enjeksiyonu açığı bulunmaktadır.
Saldırganlar, özel olarak adlandırılmış dal isimleri kullanarak GitCommandError mesajları aracılığıyla dosya içeriklerini sızdırabilir.
İncelenen kaynaklarda yama durumu henüz doğrulanamamıştır.
Show the technical text from the sources
GitPython before 3.2.0 contains an argument injection vulnerability in Head.checkout() that allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files by supplying a branch name parsed as a git option. Attackers can host a repository whose default branch is named --pathspec-from-file=<path>, causing cloning applications that check out the active branch to leak file contents through GitCommandError messages.
