Short explanation

n8n before 2.41.4 and 2.42.1 contains a prototype pollution vulnerability in the MCP workflow-validation tool. This flaw allows an authenticated member to bypass permission checks and take over owner accounts not protected by MFA.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability carries high risk because it allows a low-privileged user to bypass server-side permission checks and compromise unprotected owner accounts.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Upgrade n8n to unaffected versions

n8n 2.41.4 öncesi ve 2.42.1 öncesi sürümler prototype pollution zafiyeti içermektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources

n8n before 2.41.4 and 2.42.x before 2.42.1 contains a prototype pollution vulnerability in the MCP workflow-validation tool, whose interpreter evaluates caller-supplied code in the main process, reads inherited properties, and permits assignment onto shared prototypes. An authenticated member holding only a workflow:read grant can replace a built-in method with one returning a truthy value so server-side permission checks accept unheld scopes, enabling takeover of owner accounts not protected by MFA.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
