Short explanation

Gitingest through 0.3.1 contains a symlink following vulnerability in ingest_query single-file blob ingestion. Unauthenticated attackers can read server files by submitting symlink blob URLs.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to read sensitive server files without requiring authentication. Files readable by the service user can be retrieved up to a size of 10 MB.

What should be done?

  • Patch status could not be verified in official sources
  • Monitor vendor advisories and updates
  • Update the Gitingest application to a secure version

Show the technical text from the sources

Gitingest through 0.3.1 contains a symlink following vulnerability in ingest_query single-file blob ingestion that allows unauthenticated attackers to read server files by submitting symlink blob URLs. Attackers can commit a symlink to a public repository and submit its blob URL, causing the server to return any file the service user can read, up to 10 MB.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
