Short explanation

An arithmetic error in device-mapper-persistent-data allows a local attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by inducing the processing of crafted metadata.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability threatens operational continuity as it can lead to unexpected crashes and service disruptions on affected systems.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor security advisories
  • Apply available updates
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

device-mapper-persistent-data bileşeninde hazırlanmış blok indeksleri yoluyla servis dışı bırakmaya zemin hazırlayan bir kusur bulunmaktadır.

Senkron blok okuma mantığındaki aritmetik hata, uygulamanın panikleyerek sonlanmasına yol açar.

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in device-mapper-persistent-data. A local attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by inducing a user or system tool to process crafted device metadata containing an excessively large block index. An arithmetic error in the synchronous block reading logic causes the application to panic and unexpectedly terminate.
