Short explanation
Salon Booking System WordPress plugin versions before 10.31.9 generate predictable booking API access tokens using insecure random sources and hardcoded values, allowing attackers to compute valid tokens and access the booking API as staff or administrators (S0).
This flaw allows attackers who can constrain when a staff or administrator token was issued to compute a valid access token and gain unauthorized access to the booking API of the Salon Booking System WordPress plugin (S0).
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories as the patch status cannot be confirmed in official sources (S0).
- Upgrade the plugin to updated versions when available.
Chain of evidence and sources
Show the technical text from the sources
The Salon Booking System WordPress plugin before 10.31.9 does not generate its booking-API access tokens from a secure random source, instead deriving them from a value hardcoded in the Salon Booking System WordPress plugin before 10.31.9 and the second at which a token was issued. An attacker able to constrain when a staff or administrator token was issued can compute a valid token and access the booking API as that user, including an administrator.
