Short explanation

A missing authentication vulnerability in the clevis PKCS#11 pin allows local users to access sensitive data through AF_UNIX sockets.

Why does it matter?

Unauthorized local users can inject device and key pairs into the control socket or connect to the data socket to retrieve LUKS passphrases.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor security advisories
  • Apply relevant updates
  • Review process umask settings
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

clevis PKCS#11 pin bileşeninde eksik kimlik doğrulama kusuru tespit edilmiştir.

Arka plan programı, açık izin kısıtlamaları olmaksızın AF_UNIX soketleri oluşturur.

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in the clevis PKCS#11 pin. The clevis-pkcs11-afunix-socket-unlock daemon creates AF_UNIX sockets without explicit permission restrictions or peer credential verification. Under a permissive process umask, any local user can connect to the control socket and inject arbitrary device/key pairs, or connect to the data socket to receive LUKS passphrases.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
