Short explanation

Versions of the Otter Blocks plugin prior to 3.2.8 fail to correctly bound patterns used for rewriting dynamic-content tokens during block rendering. This allows unauthenticated users to achieve stored Cross-Site Scripting that executes in the browser of any visitor viewing an affected page (S0).

Why does it matter?

This unauthenticated vulnerability allows malicious scripts to execute in the browser of any visitor viewing an affected page, including a logged-in administrator (S0).

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories for updates (S0)
  • Review official announcements since the patch status is UNKNOWN in current sources (S0)
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Otter Blocks eklentisinin 3.2.8 öncesi sürümleri, dinamik içerik token'larını yeniden yazarken kalıpları doğru sınırlamamaktadır.

Bu açık, kimlik doğrulamayan kullanıcıların saklı Cross-Site Scripting elde etmesine olanak tanır.

Show the technical text from the sources

The Otter Blocks WordPress plugin before 3.2.8 does not correctly bound a pattern it uses to rewrite its dynamic-content tokens while rendering blocks, so the pattern can consume the quote that closes an HTML attribute and pull adjacent unescaped data into the markup as new attributes. This allows unauthenticated users to achieve stored Cross-Site Scripting that executes in the browser of any visitor who views an affected page, including a logged-in administrator.
