Short explanation

Cognition before 0.13.0 contains an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability caused by defaulting its agent sandbox backend to local execution and lacking authentication on its REST/SSE API [S0].

Why does it matter?

It matters because it allows remote code execution with server process privileges without authentication, posing a critical security risk [S0].

What should be done?

  • Update Cognition to version 0.13.0 or later
  • Follow vendor security advisories
  • Restrict access to sensitive API endpoints
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Cognition 0.13.0 öncesi sürümlerde kimlik doğrulaması olmayan uzaktan kod çalıştırma açığı bulunmaktadır.

Yama durumu kullanılabilir durumdadır ve düzeltilmiş sürüm etiketi bulunmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

Cognition before 0.13.0 contains an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability due to defaulting its agent sandbox backend to local execution and shipping no authentication on its REST/SSE API. Attackers can create a session via POST /sessions and post a message via POST /sessions/{id}/messages without credentials, causing the Deep Agents ReAct loop to run attacker-directed shell commands through the local shell backend, resulting in remote code execution as the server process.
