Short explanation
mcp-remote versions 0.8.0 through 0.14.3 contain a cleartext transmission vulnerability in authorizeWithDeviceCode that fails to enforce HTTPS endpoints.
On-path network attackers can capture client secrets and access tokens transmitted over unencrypted HTTP endpoints.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories for updates
- Apply patches enforcing HTTPS endpoints
- Avoid using insecure HTTP endpoints for authentication
