CVE-2026-108385: dataclasses-avroschema Code Injection Vulnerability

Short explanation

In dataclasses-avroschema versions 0.38.0 through 0.70.5, BaseGenerator.parse_enum and EnumRepresentation.render_symbols do not validate schema-controlled enum symbols as identifiers. When generator classes are used directly, this allows code injection and namespace modification [S0].

Why does it matter?

This flaw allows attackers to inject constrained statements into the generated enum class body. It can prevent the module from loading or lead to namespace modification [S0].

What should be done?

  • Update to version 0.70.6 or later [S0]
  • Follow the vendor advisory [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

dataclasses-avroschema generates Avro schemas from Python dataclasses, Pydantic models, and Faust Records and generates Python code from Avro schemas. From version 0.38.0 through 0.70.5, BaseGenerator.parse_enum and EnumRepresentation.render_symbols use each schema-controlled enum symbol as a generated enum member name after case conversion but without validating it as an identifier. When generator classes are used directly, newlines and punctuation can inject constrained statements into the generated enum class body, allowing namespace modification or preventing the module from loading. Version 0.70.6 fixes the vulnerability by validating every enum symbol as a name.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
