Short explanation

The overly permissive CORS policy in the loopx serve-status component of LoopX versions 0.0.1 through 0.4.5 allows remote attackers to access sensitive control plane data and private Markdown files without authentication.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability exposes control-plane state, local absolute paths, and private Markdown files if an operator visits attacker-controlled web content.

What should be done?

  • Update the software or follow the vendor advisory
  • Review the project security advisories for LoopX
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

LoopX sürümleri 0.0.1 ile 0.4.5 arasında loopx serve-status bileşeni üzerinden aşırı izin verici CORS politikası barındırır.

Saldırganlar, operatörleri zararlı web içeriklerine yönlendirerek hassas kontrol düzlemi bilgilerini ve özel Markdown dosyalarını ele geçirebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Open and provider-neutral, LoopX is a lightweight state kernel and local-first control plane for loop engineering. From version 0.0.1 until 0.4.5, `loopx serve-status` in `loopx/status_server.py` uses `StatusRequestHandler._send_json()` and `do_OPTIONS()` to send `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *` for unauthenticated responses on predictable loopback ports. A remote attacker can cause an operator who visits attacker-controlled web content to issue cross-origin requests to `GET /status.json`, `GET /review-material?goal_id=...&path=...`, `GET /`, and `POST /control-plane/configure-goal/dry-run`, exposing control-plane state, goal and run information, local absolute paths, private Markdown files below registered goal roots, and dry-run configuration projections. The affected routes do not provide cross-origin writes or arbitrary-file access. This issue is fixed in version 0.4.5.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
