Short explanation

WP 2FA WordPress plugin versions prior to 4.2.0 suffer from an IDOR vulnerability due to a missing object-level capability check when removing two-factor authentication configurations (S0).

Why does it matter?

It allows site administrators on WordPress Multisite installations to remove the 2FA configuration of users outside their own site, crossing trust boundaries (S0).

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories as the patch status cannot be verified in reviewed official sources (S0).
  • Update the WP 2FA plugin to version 4.2.0 or higher (S0).
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

WP 2FA eklentisinin 4.2.0 öncesi sürümleri, nesne düzeyinde yetki denetimi eksikliği nedeniyle 2FA yapılandırma kaldırma işlemlerinde zafiyet barındırmaktadır.

Bu durum, WordPress Multisite kurulumlarında site yöneticilerinin yetkileri dışındaki hesapların 2FA yapılandırmasını kaldırmasına izin verir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The WP 2FA WordPress plugin before 4.2.0 does not perform an object-level capability check before removing a user's two-factor authentication configuration, allowing a site administrator on WordPress Multisite to remove the 2FA configuration of users outside their own site, including accounts they are not permitted to edit. On single-site installs an administrator can already manage all users, so this crosses a trust boundary only on Multisite.
