Short explanation

Versions 3.8.4 and prior of the AI Engine plugin contain a limited media file deletion vulnerability due to insufficient file path validation in the upload_file function.

Why does it matter?

Allowing authenticated attackers to delete arbitrary media files on the server, this vulnerability requires an administrator to have enabled the Public API option.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

AI Engine eklentisinin 3.8.4 ve önceki sürümleri, upload_file fonksiyonundaki yetersiz dosya yolu doğrulamasından etki görür.

Saldırının başarılı olması için yöneticinin Public API seçeneğini etkinleştirmesi ve saatlik cleanup_files görevinin çalışması gerekir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The AI Engine – The Chatbot, AI Framework & MCP for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to limited media file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the upload_file function in all versions up to, and including, 3.8.4 This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary media files on the server. This requires the administrator to have enabled the Public API option, and exploitation depends on the hourly cleanup_files task running after the malicious upload.
