Short explanation

The NEX-Forms WordPress plugin before version 9.3.1 does not perform authorization, ownership, or request-validation checks before updating stored form entries. This allows unauthenticated attackers to overwrite, permanently erase, reassign, or append to any previously submitted form entry by referencing its sequential identifier.

Why does it matter?

It allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate or permanently delete stored form data, undermining data integrity and confidentiality.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories to review updates
  • Upgrade the plugin to supported secure versions
  • Tighten access controls for form entry requests
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims
