Node.js Permission Model Filesystem Vulnerability

Short explanation

A flaw in Node.js Permission Model filesystem enforcement can grant access to paths that do not match wildcard rules. When the requested path is shorter than the wildcard grant prefix, the radix tree lookup treats it as a match. It affects Node.js 26.x.

Why does it matter?

It can weaken security boundaries by allowing access or modifications to sensitive file paths that should otherwise be restricted.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and security releases
  • Review filesystem permission rules
  • Apply available patches for the current version

Node.js İzin Modeli dosya sistemi denetimindeki bir kusur, joker karakterli kurallarla eşleşmeyen yollara erişim izni verebilir.

Talep edilen yol joker karakterli kuralın ön ekinden kısa olduğunda, radix ağacı araması erken durur.

Bu güvenlik açığı Node.js 26.x sürümlerini etkiler.

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw in Node.js Permission Model filesystem enforcement can grant access to paths that do not match a wildcard `--allow-fs-read` or `--allow-fs-write` rule. When the requested path is shorter than the prefix of a wildcard grant, the radix tree lookup stops comparing early and treats the path as a match. For example, `--allow-fs-read=/etc/passwd.*` also allows reading `/etc/passwd`. This requires the wildcard grant to sit directly under the root of the permission tree, for example when it is the only grant for that scope. This is a different root cause from CVE-2026-58043. This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.

Public exploit and active exploitation status

Verified exploit intelligence

No verified public PoC, exploit repository or Metasploit module has been found for this CVE yet.
